This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the drafl finalized by the Weights and Measures Sectional Committee had been approved by the Production and General Engineering Division Council.This standard is taken for measuring the gas consumption at bulk supplier as well as the users’ end when the gas is supplied through the pipelines. In order to meet the requirement of bulk supplier and consumer, the Bureau of Indian Standards, has formulated the above standard for accuracy of metering system and regulation of gas at different delivery point to fulfill the consumer satisfaction. This standard deals with installation conditions, leakage, testing and pressure testing and provides a series of information as well as recommendation for use, field checks and perturbations of the fluid flow.In preparing this standard considerable amount of assistance has been taken from the following publications:

- AGA 7 American gas authority report for turbine metersAnnexes A, B, C, D and E are for information only.For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS 2:1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)’. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
