Betts Gavin, Henry Alan. Teach Yourself Ancient Greek
McGraw-Hill, 2003. — 379 p. — ISBN 034086785X.
We know that some of the more recent TY books are a bit thin. Yet this is an excellent book for studying Classical Greek. Many of the readings are isolated sentences, which I usually dislike, but the book includes complete translations, and there are enough coherent passages as well. Highly recommended.
Some readers complain about the font used for the letter sigma, but I don't think it's a big deal (of course, it's the Byzantine one which went over to the Cyrillic script).
Now, there is a visual problem. Sometimes the ends of lines get shaved off at the end (right hand side). That does not interfere with the reading and studying grosso modo, but it is deplorable and more difficult for beginners. Sorry - it was meant for private consumption only and the paper copy is not currently at hand! I will correct those pages when I can.
