Д. Хопкинс Руководство по акушерству и гинекологии. The Johns Hopkins Manual of Gynecology and Obstetrics, now in its third edition, was originally created to fulfill several needs. Its primary objective was to provide students and house officers with an easily porTable reference with which they can consult on the spot for any given clinical situation. The utility of having a handy and up-to-date reference also quickly caught on with practicing physicians, who now use The Hopkins Manual with regularity (the authors included). At the time the First Edition was being prepared we would never have predicted that within a decade the information contained in the manual could be accessed by a PDA device. Now it is possible to tap into the Johns Hopkins Manual by downloading it onto a palm operating device. Recognizing the steady progress of the Hopkins Manual, its Second Edition was supplemented by a companion piece, The Johns Hopkins Review of Gynecology and Obstetrics. This Review contains factual material abstracted from the Manual and includes a self-test for each chapter.
A secondary objective of the Hopkins Manual was to render this text user friendly for both house officer and student. To this end, the contributorship of the manual consists of 48 teams of Johns Hopkins house officers and attending physician/faculty preceptors. Using this formula, the Third Edition has been extensively revamped and updated. The same process was used for producing its companion piece, The Johns Hopkins Review of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
