This book discusses in detail the mathematical aspects and physical applications of a new geometrical structure of space-time. It is based on a generalization ("deformation") of the usual Minkowski space, supposedly endowed with a metric whose coefficients depend on the energy. Energy and Geometry: Geometrical Description of Interactions is suitable for researchers, academics and students in mathematical and theoretical physics.
Aim of this book is to acquaint the reader with the basic concepts and methods of Deformed Special Relativity (DSR). Part I and II contain the physical and mathematical foundations of the theory. In Part III, we discuss the physical experiments whose analysis allows one to derive the explicit form of the phenomenological metrics for all four fundamental interactions, and some of the physical applications of the DSR formalism. The connection of DSR with the problem of the breakdown of local Lorentz invariance is considered in Part IV. The natural link between DSR and a generalized, five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein scheme is also outlined.
