Introducing Indonesian is a translation and adaptation of Indonesischer Sprachftihrer published in 1964 by Julius Groos Verlag, Heidelberg. In his Preface to the German edition, Prof. Dr. Fritz Sauter, Chairman of the Committee of the Deutsch-Indonesischen Gesellschaft e. V., pointed out that the main purpose of the work was to provide practical assistance for German-speaking visitors to Indonesia, although it was also intended to serve as an introduction to Bahasa Indonesia, the modern colloquial language of Indonesia.
