Burma, which is now called Union of Myanmar by the Burmese military government, is a country lying along the eastern coasts of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea in Southeast Asia. It is twice the size of Vietnam and close to the size of the US state of Texas. It is the largest country in the South-East Asian Peninsula and shares borders with Bangladesh and India on the west and southwest, and China, Laos and Thailand on the east, northeast, and southeast.
