This book is the outgrowth of a course at Stanford entitled "Theory of Functions of a Real Variable." time to time during the last ten years. This course was designed for first-year graduate students in mathematics and statistics. theory. The treatment of material given here is quite standard in graduate courses of this sort, although Lebesgue measure and Lebesgue integration are treated in this book before the general theory of measure and integration.
